Consultation & Advocacy Services

It takes a village. Lets help you form yours.

Children spend the majority of their lives at home and school, not with their psychologist (or pediatrician or behaviorist)! And yet, a lot of youth professionals overestimate their role in your child’s life. They forget to collaborate with other providers to see the whole picture. As a parent, it can be exhausting trying to make sense of all the services and people your child needs. It can also be intimidating and frustrating to try to advocate for your child’s needs across these complicated systems.

This is where we come in. As psychologists experienced working across settings, we can help make sense of your child’s IEP, behavior plan, Regional Center services, health services, and more.

You don’t need to do this on your own.

How do I know if I need consultation?

You should consider consultation services if:

  • You need help understanding your child’s IEP, diagnosis, services, and past testing.

  • You want to know if there are gaps in your child’s IEP or supports that might be missing.

  • You want to be educated and empowered to advocate for your child across settings.

  • Your child is struggling socially, emotionally, or academically, and you are not sure why.

  • You want to advocate for additional services or supports for your child at school.

  • You want specific, targeted recommendations for home, school, and treatment.

  • You want a child- and parent-centered professional, informed opinion of what to do next.

How do I know if I need an advocate?

You should consider advocacy services if:

  • You feel overwhelmed and/or intimidated by your child’s IEP meetings and appointments.

  • You want an ally with you to help explain the process in vivo so you can be a more active participant and advocate.

  • You’ve tried advocating in the past, and the schools or doctors just don’t seem to listen to your concerns.

  • You want the support of a professional at important meetings and appointments.

  • You want help advocating for additional services or supports for your child at school.

  • Out-of-Office Advocacy: $260 per hour + $25 travel fee per visit

    • It is usually helpful for the psychologist to accompany you to meetings with the school, such as an IEP meeting, or to a pediatric medical appointment, to help you advocate for needed services and supports. Advocacy beyond the clinic, when not included with an assessment, is charged at $200 an hour plus a small travel fee to cover the cost of roundtrip mileage and time away from the clinic. An additional travel fee may be included if travel is required outside of 15 miles of the office.
